| Alex's Molsonian Masterpiece (Peanut Swirl Pie)
Recipe_By: Emma Bernhard
(Note: This recipe goes by many names. The co-creator of this recipe,
Alex, often called it "Squirrel with Nuts" because in the first
test of this recipe, the peanut butter swirled into the shape of a
squirrel. Three other times after that it has done the same. Let me know
if yours swirl turns squirrel by emailing me with the subject reading
"Squirrel Pie.")
Ingredients:
1/2 cup of Molson Golden beer (the alcohol cooks off, but the flavor left
is light and pleasant)
*OPTIONAL* 2 cups of chopped peanuts (you may substitute another nut of
choice, walnuts, or even the common beer nut)
3 cups of chocolate sauce, can be home made or store bought
3 cups of peanut butter
2 cups of flour
1 cup of granulated sugar
*OPTIONAL* Powered sugar for surface decoration
3 cups of chocolate morsels
Instructions:
In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, granulated sugar, and peanut
butter. Mix well. In a small, hearable pot, combine chocolate morsels and
Molson. On stove top, heat until morsels are melted, *stirring often*! Or,
you can microwave the mixture for two minutes, stirring every thirty
seconds. Preheat your oven for 350 degrees Pour mixing bowl mixture into a
large baking pan, preferably a 9 x 13 for proper consistency, and swirl in
the morsel mixture with a whisk. Bake for 15 minutes, or until peanut
butter is firm looking.
I would recommend the toothpick test to test it. Remove from oven. If you
want, you can drizzle it with chocolate sauce, nuts, or powdered sugar.
Enjoy!
