Apple Pie With Crumb Topping

5 to 7 tart apples
2 Tbsp. flour
1 tsp. cinnamon
2 Tbsp. butter
3/4 to 1 cup sugar
1/8 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
Crumb Topping:
1/2 cup butter
1 cup flour
1/2 cup brown sugar
Pare and core apples, slice thin; add sugar mixed with flour, salt, and spices. Fill 9 inch pastry lined pie pan. Dot with butter. Add crumb topping. Bake in hot (450 degrees) oven for 10 minutes, then in moderate (350 degrees) oven about 40 minutes.
